Often still referred to as the Tullamarine Airport, Melbourne Airport (MEL) lies close to the city's Tullamarine Freeway and handles in excess of 29 million passengers every single year, around five million of which are international. To travel to and from the airport, car hire firms operate on the lower levels of the short-term car park. Taxis are also heavily used at Melbourne Airport and can be pre-booked if required, although many people choose to use the 24-hour Skybus shuttles and public bus transport.
